Almighty God, give us grace, that we may cast away the works of darkness, and put upon us the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life, (in the which thy son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility;) that in the last day when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge both the quick and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal, through him who liveth and reigneth with thee and the holy ghost now and ever. Amen.

As Christians we need all the help we can get! We daily battle with sin and one another, while at the same time neglecting evangelism and people with needs; the poor, sick, and oppressed.
In todays Collect, we pray, "Almighty God, give us grace, that we may cast away the works of darkness,..." Christians need Gods grace on a daily basis. We need His grace when our teenagers are out of control, when our bills are greater than the paycheck, when our boss is constantly riding us, and as our life fades away in death. We need Gods grace and God gives it liberally.
The Bible tells us many things regarding Gods grace, however, let's just examine three of them.
First of all, God cares for us. Peter tells us, "Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you"(1 Pet. 5:7, NKJV). God cares for His children, and wants us to lay all of our cares or burdens upon Him.
Second, God is always near. Moses told Israel, "Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you"(Deut. 31:6).
Lastly, God fights for us. Paul taught, "...If God is for us, who can be against us?" and "Yet in all...things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us"(Rom. 8:31, 37). Through Gods grace, we can cast away the works of darkness, and put on the armor of Christ.
